Visitor Visa (Subclass 600)

Resident Return Visa (Subclass 155 & 157)

The Resident Return Visa (RRV) is a visa category for permanent residents of Australia who wish to travel abroad and then return to Australia. 

The RRV comes in two forms: Subclass 155 and 157 depending on your period of residency in Australia.  It is important to note that applying for an RRV can be complicated and may require evidence of substantial ties to Australia.

To be eligible for the visa, you must meet the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) requirements:

  • A permanent resident of Australia
  • Have spent at least two out of the last five years in Australia
  • Have substantial ties to Australia that are of benefit to the country’s economy, cultural or other activities, or exceptional personal circumstances that justify the granting of the visa.

Processing time: less than a day to 14 days
Length of stay: Infinity 

Application preparation time: 3 days to 1 month

Australian Citizenship

Acquiring Australian Citizenship is the final step in your Australian migration journey.

There are various available pathways with specific eligibility criteria and the two main pathways:

  • Conferral
  • Descent

To be eligible for conferral, you must:

  • Meet residence requirement 
  • Have close and continuing link to Australia
  • Pass character requirement 
  • Pass a citizenship test (Language requirement)

Some cases can be complicated and you will need a migration agent to assist.

Update news: From 1 July 2023, some New Zealand citizens holding a Special Category (Subclass 444) visa (SCV) may be eligible to apply for it.
