The Partner visa, Subclass 820/ 801 for onshore applicants and Subclass 309/ 100 for offshore applicants allows the partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to come and live in Australia at the same time.

PROSPECTIVE MARRIAGE VISA

(Subclass 300)

The Subclass 300 Visa is available to those who intend to marry an Australian Citizen, an Australian Permanent Resident, or an eligible New Zealand Citizen. This visa allows you to enter Australia and marry your intended partner within the visa’s nine-month validity period.

Once granted, you must enter before marrying your partner and may leave and re-enter Australia before your visa expiry date.

Contributory Aged Parent visa

(Subclass 864 & Subclass 143)

The subclass 864 visa is for onshore and Subclass 143 for offshore visa. This is a 5-years permanent visa for eligible aged parents of eligible sponsors, who pay a large second visa application charge before the visa is granted.

Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa

(Subclass 870)

This temporary visa permits parents of Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to visit Australia for either 3 or 5 years, with a cumulative stay not exceeding 10 years in total.

PARTNER VISA

To be eligible for the visa, you must meet the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) requirements:

  • Be of legal age (18 years and over)
  • Have an approved sponsor
  • Be married or in a de-facto relationship
  • Demonstrate that you are in a genuine and continuing relationship
  • Meet character and health requirements

Processing time: 29 months
Length of stay: As long as the visa holders meet the requirements can stay infinitely. 

Application preparation time: Stage 1 & 2: 2 to 3 months each

  • Demonstrate that you are in a genuine and continuing relationship

Processing time: 27 months
Length of stay: 9 months
Application preparation time: 2 to 3 months

Contributory Aged Parent visa (Subclass 864 & Subclass 143)

The subclass 864 visa is for onshore and Subclass 143 for offshore visa. This is a 5-years permanent visa for eligible aged parents of eligible sponsors, who pay a large second visa application charge before the visa is granted.

To be eligible for the visa, you must meet the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) requirements:

  • Not hold Sub 870 visa
  • Have an eligible sponsor
  • Meet age requirement
  • Meet the balance-of-family test
  • Have assurance of support
  • Meet the health and character requirements

Processing time: 12 years
Length of stay: Permanent 

Application preparation time: 3 – 6 months

Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa (Subclass 870)

This temporary visa permits parents of Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to visit Australia for either 3 or 5 years, with a cumulative stay not exceeding 10 years in total.

To be eligible for the visa, you must meet the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) requirements:

  • Have an approved Parent Sponsor before you can lodge an application for this visa
  • Be the biological, legal parent, step-parent or parent in-law of the Parent Sponsor
  • Have enough money
  • Have a genuine intention to stay in Australia temporarily
  • Have health insurance
  • Meet the health and character requirements

There is no balance of family test or Assurance of Support requirements for this visa.
