Subclass 491 Small Business Owners (QLD) VISAS
This visa, designed for small business owners, allows temporary visa holders who are currently living and lawfully operating a small business in regional Australia to continue living and working in designated regional areas of Australia for up to five years. It is also a points-based visa, and you are required to be nominated by the Queensland (QLD) government.
Subclass 491 Small Business Owners (QLD)
To be eligible for the visa, you must meet the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) requirements:
- Be under 45 years of age
- Nominate an eligible skilled occupation
- Have a positive skills assessment
- Have competent English
- Score at least 65 points
- Be nominated by QLD government
- Meet health and character requirments
In addition to the QLD requirements, there are two pathways:
For both pathways, you must:
- Have 100% ownership of the relationship
- Have operated the business and live in regional QLD
- Have a full-time work right
Pathway 1
- The business must have been operating for a minimum of two years in its current location, immediately prior to purchase.
- The purchasing price of the existing business is minimum of $100,000
- Operate the business for at least 6 months
- Employ at least one Australian resident
Pathway 2
- Have been operating a profitable start-up for a minimum of two years, with a turnover of $200,000 in the twelve months prior to application
Length of stay: up to 5 years
Processing time: 16 months more
Application preparation time: 6 months to 1 year
